For nearly three decades, BBTC’s Fairtrade commitment has transformed the lives of tea plantation workers in the Nilgiris, ensuring fair wages, better working conditions, and community empowerment. Each BBTC plantation—Mudis, Singampatti, and Dunsandle—has its own Fairtrade Foundation, directly benefiting workers and their families. The Fairtrade premium has funded essential social initiatives, including insurance policies, computer centers, savings schemes, specialized medical treatments, and funeral funds, enhancing financial security and well-being. BBTC also provides housing, medical care, maternity benefits, childcare, education, and uniforms, ensuring a dignified life for workers. In its commitment to sustainability, BBTC has introduced smokeless stoves, solar lanterns, and fuel-efficient cooking solutions, reducing environmental impact while improving living standards.
